S.S. Sicamous Restoration Society

General Accomplishments

S.S. NARAMATA

  1. Restoration of Cabins, Pilot House, Galley, Crews Bunks
  2. Wheel mounted in Pilot House, running lights, string lighting, spot light, axes
  3. New doors attached and painted and dedicated to the appropriate donors
  4. Re-created the original S.S. Naramata metal sign on the front of tug
  5. Only 4 doors remaining to BUY A DOOR CAMPAIGN. – poster attached
  6. GRANT AWARD!! From the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan for $9,000.00. Budget attached.

S.S. SICAMOUS STERNWHEELER

  1. City of Penticton awarded the society $62,000 to address the
    Extensive Exterior Deck Rot repair and will begin this summer
  2. Re-created the original S.S. Sicamous metal sign on the front of Pilot House
    This sign was stolen May 7th and is being replaced by Pattison Sign Group at no charge.
  3. Pilot House artifact replacements and area re-creation
  4. Engine Room bullhead built with original tools displayed, opening and interpreting 2 more Cargo Deck Cabins
  5. Display cases that were built by the Community Foundation’s Project Grant from 2005 are now housing artifacts and archival material and one is featured at the Convention Centre in Penticton

S.S. OKANAGAN SALOON

  1. Physical move of the Stern Saloon to permanent location April 07
  2. Exterior Deck being constructed
  3. To partner for funding to restore to its 1930 era
  4. To build on interpretive displays
  5. To utilize it as the Heritage Park’s Information Centre and rental venue


CN TUG BOAT # 6

The Society has recently undertaken the stewardship of the Canadian National Tug #6 and towed it to the Okanagan Inland Marine Heritage Park June 16th 2007. Goals for the tug are public access, full restoration and a vision to have it run on the lake once again.
